instead of spending the day studying for gp i opted instead to hang out in forums and chatroom to keep track on the us election. so it appears that bush is going to win he has 259 to kerry's 252 electoral college votes with ohio still being called. Bush has a 130000 margin in ohio with provisional votes still waiting to be counted. he needs to win only ohio to gain victory while kerry needs to win ohio and 2 more states to ensue victory.

enuff has been said about both candidates so i wun go into that stuff again. It still hasn't changed my opinion about both candidates but the people of america has decided. What i can't accept is how they decided.

I've seen people saying that they have heard no reasons to choose kerry except that he is the lesser of the two evils...so they voted for bush. In response i would like to say....lesser of two evils beats the greater of two evils.

Cmon what do u expect kerry hasn't been president before he has been a senator but no decision he has made has had a huge impact on the country so of course its not surprising he's an unknown both gore and bush were unknowns in the 2000 election. ppl seem to be willing to elect bush simply bcos they dun noe much abt kerry. Thats irritant number one.

two some ppl seem to be aware about bush's mistakes....but they seem willing to give him a second chance. wtf? i say that bush has about a lesser chance of changing his mind and correcting his mistakes than fiona xie ever becoming a serious actress. And thats saying a lot.

three some ppl just seem to hold onto their personnal opinions a wee bit too tightly and asking people to respect that. A personal opinion that is misguided, an opinion based on inaccurate and false information holds as much value as a Russian rouble. Entitlement to a personnal opinion doesn't make that opinion any more truer. Some people just dun seem to recognise that. They have no probs airing their views but once their view gets challenged they run away. If you believe your opinion to be steadfast and true just stay and argue. No need to give excuses. Their votes dun deserve to be counted cos they are stupid.

four it is all about amercias self interest. Granted their election their president their own domestic policies....at the same time though i would have expected them to have at least that little more knowledge in global affairs. No chance. Praising the iraq war as a just cause....ignorant of the sectarian violence in afganistan and uncontrollable street violence in iraq its all so far away to them. Instead..they focus on welfare benefits. Wtf?! So long as the draft isn't mandatory they have as much concern for the war as they have concern for a fugly baby. Its fine as long as u dun look at it. And for that i wish that america gets invaded one day.

fifth the electoral college. the electoral college is like the most fucked up shit i have ever seen. A majority vote by just one can lead to the candidate bagging a max 55 votes towards the goal of 270 votes. Its unfair and they shld revert to the popular vote. Then u wouldn't have the situation of candidates spending all their time in one state. California got a total visit of 2 by bush...ohio 36 by kerry. U get the idea. This idea actually favours Bush because he is ahead in the popular vote...but yeah americas choice americas president. In the popular vote their individual vote would actually count however.

Sixth the bipartisan party system. Two parties is insufficent to represent the broad spectrum of views that is the United states of America. In the end it came down to who could pander to the largest audience by choosing the most optimal spectrum of views to represent. In the process religious convictions are changed....unsustainable promises are given out...contradictions are made at the party and individual level...people end up voting for a candidate because they hate the other...u get the drill.
