Arrgh my eye they hurt...
Come to think of it ever since the hols started i haven't been playing much 'cept for the occasional Final Fantasy Tactics battle...what with the job and all. Just started on The Longest Journey and Disgaea.
The Longest Journey is fairly easy to classifiy...its basically sci-fic Monkey Island. U noe clickity-click here and there. The thing is i'm like 4 hours in...and its hasn't reached the end of the first disc yet. I dun think its even halfway there. Puzzles are inventive...but unless u got a walkthrough in your hand there no way your going to noe that your supposed to put that clamp on that rope and tie a rubber ducky around it to fish out that invisible key thats stuck in railroad. Thankfully that has only happened twice so far....anymore way out puzzles and its that close to the bin for me. The only thing thats keeping me going so far is the story and the atmosphere...this baby's got it all down pat. Its starting to look like a keeper...
Disgaea on the other hand...is sorta the opposite. Less emphasis on the story...and more emphasis on the dope. Cos this thing is just whacked. Think of it as a cross between Final Fantasy Tactics, Psycho le Cemu and Excel Saga. Its clockful of strategy, parodies and crazy characters. While the strategy games like FFTU just rely mainly on power leveling and equipping the most powerful shit u can get your hands on...Disgaea forces u to rethink that. Sure if your high powered u can bulldoze your way through..but 3 levels within your own it gets freaking hard if you want everybody to survive. theres team attacks, combos, tossing people around, geopanels, an assembly where demons come together to vote on your proposals, and get this...Within each item there is a world called the Item World. And within them Residents and Specialists. And u can move them between items. Its absolutely hilarious.
So if u dun see me anythime soon...i'm rushing through Disgaea to pass back to xue when she gets back home. Tata.
