Just spent 4 hours cleaning up the Maaya Sakamoto Discography that i dl from Public Morning Musume Tracker...had some mislabbeled and fake files and some weren't catgorized...its funny how i dun care about how much my desk looks but i care so much about my com looks...all my music is neatly placed in one folder called mp3s categorized according to genre...subdivided according to artists and futher split into albums and sub-albums. If i really like the artist i'll track down the cd-covers and lyrics. If i find some files online that are higher quality than the ones i have i redownload them again. same goes for my image folders and personnal folder. U noe if i really applied this to my personnal life i would be called a control freak...but strangely it doesn't work both ways. thats wierd.

Aniwae Maaya Sakamoto is one really great artist. I dunno much about music but her voice just floats and lingers in the air bringing a somewhat rustic and mysterious quality to all the songs that she sings. Paired with the amazing talents of Yoko Kanno (who composes like 90% of her songs), she achieves a gentle balance between saccharine sweetness and dark undertones. However her songs end up being inspiring and soothing without being too campy. Due to her role as a seiyuu(voice actress) she has to sing a lot of sucky theme songs though which unfortunately makes up a lot of the stuff that i downloaded sigh.

Fav songs so far...

Nappy Tale OST - Folly Fall (might not be maaya..sure sounds like her though)
Nikopachi - The Garden of Everything, Vector, Yubiwa
Hotch Potch - Tomodachi, Call Your Name, Yakusoku wa Iranai, Hikari no Naka E

I still have like about 3 albums left to listen...

a good place to start listening to her stuff would be http://www.rose-tainted.net/hitomim/hear.html
theres some yoko kanno solo stuff in there too but its all goodness :)
